Make gorgeous smoothie bowls at home using your favourite fruits and plant milk. We'll show you some tips and tricks on how to achieve the perfect soft-serve consistency so you can enjoy a guilt-free treat whenever you want to.

We like serving our smoothies in Coconut Bowls to bring in some tropical vibes at home.

Watch our instructor, Lol, to teach you how to make a smoothie bowl:

1. Prep your ingredients beforehand

Choose your favourite fruits. Mangoes, pineapples, watermelon, peaches, grapes and berries are great - any kind of fruit will do. Buy ripe and organic ones and chop them into small equal pieces, about 1-2 inches thick. Place them in a reusable container and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight - for best results. Fruits taste best when in season - you can buy in bulk and freeze them for future uses, we like to use them in smoothies!

Did you know that you can sneak in a few handfuls of veg and a few dashes of superfoods? Frozen zucchini, cauliflower and pumpkin are sometimes added to smoothie recipes and they don't taste like veg. They taste sweet and just like an ice cream thanks to the frozen fruit - they act as your base and the primary source of flavour.

Add a few dashes of superfood powders to increase the nutritional content. We like adding cinnamon, ginger, beet, pitaya, spirulina and maca powders - it all depends on the smoothie recipe!

Love chocolate? Just add a couple of tablespoons of cacao, and enjoy the fruity and chocolatey smoothie.

2. Use a high performance blender

A high-speed blender can cut through frozen fruits, and will transform them into a soft-serve like ice cream easily - It's a thicker version of a smoothie that we're used to. A normal, low-speed blender will need more time to break down frozen fruits, and thus, will result in a less thicker consistency.

Here is an example of a fruit smoothie that's thick, creamy and scoopable.

3. Do not add too much liquid

A tiny amount of liquid is needed, but no more than 1/4 cup per two servings. Adding too much liquid will result in a thinner consistency. This is totally fine if this is the consistency that you want. But for a smoothie bowl, thicker smoothies are always the best way to go.

We like using plant-milk and fruit juices as our liquid. Using plain water is ok, but we love the added flavour of the plant-milk and fruits.

Now that you've got the basics, practice your newly learned skills with these three smoothie bowl recipes.

Made primarily with blueberries and blackberries, but there's a bunch of superfoods and veg sneaked in. Sneaky!
