Not much of a sweet tooth? This savoury pecans will be your new favourite healthy snack! The pecans are tossed with some spices, a little sweetener, then baked in an oven until roasted and crisp.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups whole pecans or pecan pieces
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chipotle pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
METHOD
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Spread pecans in a single layer on a sheet pan (you may use parchment paper if desired)
  3. Bake for 5 minutes while you make the season sauce
  4. Make the sauce. In a skillet over medium heat add water, brown sugar, salt, chipotle pepper flakes, and smoked paprika and bring to a boil.
  5. Baste the pecans with the sauce and mix well to assure all nuts are covered. Bake again until crispy, about 7-10 minutes depending on your oven.
  6. Eat as a snack or use as a salad topper. These are addictive!
